DESCRIPTION
Ethiopia Lalesa Natural
Strawberry, blueberry, peach and milk chocolate.
This Ethiopian natural comes from the Lalesa washing station in Gedeb, an area known for producing beautifully sweet and fruit driven coffees. Grown at high altitude and naturally processed, this coffee has a lovely combination of ripe berry sweetness, soft peach and a gentle black tea character.
The milk chocolate notes bring everything together, giving the cup a rounded sweetness and plenty of balance.
What does this coffee taste like?
Expect strawberry and blueberry at the front of the cup, followed by sweet peach and delicate black tea. There is a soft milk chocolate sweetness underneath that gives the coffee a smooth and rounded feel.
It is fruity without being sharp, sweet without being heavy, and has the kind of balance that makes a great Ethiopian natural so enjoyable.

About the coffee
The Lalesa washing station works with farmers from the surrounding Gedeb area, where coffee is grown naturally under shade trees, including Ensete, also known as the false banana tree.
Only the best ripe cherries are selected and floated before being placed onto raised African drying beds, where they dry slowly for around 12 to 15 days. The dried coffee is then carefully sorted, with local women playing an important role in the hand sorting of the green coffee.
Ephtah Specialty Coffee, who operate the site, are also committed to supporting the farmers and communities they work with through quality premiums, education support and investment in local infrastructure.
Why we roast it
We chose this coffee for its beautiful combination of fruit and sweetness. The strawberry, blueberry and peach give it the character we love in Ethiopian coffee, while the black tea and milk chocolate notes add balance and depth.
It is a great example of a natural Ethiopian that is full of flavour but still feels beautifully balanced in the cup.
Brew it your way
This coffee is particularly suited to filter brewing, where the berry and peach notes really shine. It can also be enjoyed as espresso if you like a sweeter, fruit driven shot.
Best suited for filter and espresso.
